Fourth book is nearly here
Fearless Vampire Hunter is a story close to my heart that I’ve been playing with, on and off, for over two decades. I have a folder loaded with writing—things I would revisit whenever I felt the urge. Something might jog my memory or remind me of a character, or I might stumble upon the folder while searching for something else; then, I’d go on a writing spree, adding tidbits and rereading my stuff. Then, I’d lose interest and leave my stories behind again. I never thought about sharing them with others. Writing was just a hobby until 2023’s release of Codex Sohrakia: The Gifted Dark.
Fearless began its journey after I watched Hugh Jackman’s Van Helsing movie back in the early 2000s. The concept, notes, and first scenes were written over several months; then, I put the unfinished story away as other things snagged my interest. Later, I would revisit and expand the tale bit by bit. Fearless has had many influences over the years, including Robert E. Howard’s Solomon Kane, Brian Lumley’s Titus Crow, Vampire Hunter D, Hellsing, Supernatural, and Anne Rice’s works. Michael J. Basset’s film, based on the Solomon Kane stories, once again had me adding more to Fearless, and then I put the story away yet again to sit untouched for several more years.
Not long ago, after reading Jay Kristoff's Empire of the Vampire series for the first time, I cracked open the Fearless folder and re-read some of what I’d written. Although Fearless is a very different kind of story, Gabriel DeLeon reminded me a bit of Spencer, especially in his physical description, which ultimately helped me to polish the story off, and finally finish the book!
Oh, and if it is not already apparent, the title was inspired by the film Fearless Vampire Killers.
Set in the multidimensional mythos of Codex Sohrakia, Fearless Vampire Hunter is a first-person tale of loss, love, discovery, and vampire slaying. There is no need to read Codex Sohrakia to enjoy Fearless, but if you find yourself interested in the mythology behind the tale, you may want to read the Codex series.
The release date is set for April 30, 2025, and the eBook is currently available for Pre-order.
