From Head To Heart

The brain loves to be negative. Don’t take it seriously. Listen to your heart. It’s much more positive and honest.

Did you know that scientists have found neurons in the heart? The power of thought and feeling exists within the heart as well as the head, but without the duality of the brain to obfuscate and confuse. I’m learning that when my brain goes into negative and painful realms, I can turn my concentration away from my head and to my heart instead. There, I concentrate on gratitude and love, which work to clear out the heaviness, the self-doubt, the cobwebs of dwelling on the past, and the fears of dreading the future. The effects of heeding heart over head are amazing, truly.

Don’t believe your brain’s ramblings. Your thoughts are not you. Its duality creates endless arguments, and more often than not, the negative screams louder, pounds harder, and drowns out the positive. Why? Not because negativity is stronger, but because it’s weaker than the positive, so weak that it must force itself to the forefront to try to convince you of its importance. But it is only words, and not inherently true words. So, instead of heeding the jumbled mess your negative brain spews at you, turn your concentration to and believe your heart.

It is a simple process. Clear your mind and pay attention to your chest. Focus on the warmth, the glow, the peaceful energy of your heart’s core. It’s there: the peace, the serenity, the ease, and the truth. If you want to get confirmation that what your head is saying is true, always check with your heart. The answers are always there.

Turn the mirror on yourself. See what you do and how you treat others. If you find that you’ve been living in anger & hate, if rage and fear control your thought processes, and if you loathe others for whatever reasons, then you are in a dangerous place. Think of how you got where you are. Think of who told you the things that put your mind into such a state. Have you been filled with misery, doubt, & depression as a consequence of your anger, whether you’ve felt righteous indignation or simply helpless fury? Regardless, they are dark emotions, and a sure sign that you are locked firmly inside your head & therefore, not listening to your heart.

If you want to be free, then move your perception down into your heart’s core. There, you will find relief and perhaps begin to see the many details that got you to such a low place, the details of the world around you, and of life in general, in a wholly different light. You may then realize how often your brain has lied to you. You may even shift your perspective and change your mind about the way you view others, events, and certain things in your life.

This journey from head to heart is liberating. But it is not a once-and-done kind of thing. It takes constant attention and practice, which also forces self-awareness, which is a power unto itself! The instant I begin to feel tension, anger, angst, hate, anxiety, or fear, I stop myself, breathe in healing light, breathe out heavy energy, and turn away from my whirling thoughts and into my quiet heart. It is a place of reverence, prayer, meditation… This is my new home, and I hope you can find solace and comfort within your heart, too.

I felt like posting this here because of the wild state our world is in, and how I’m finding peace in navigating it, not only daily, but moment-to-moment. I want to help others lighten their load. Personally, I am excited and hopeful for the future. Part of the reason for this perspective is that I don’t think lurking in doom and gloom is healthy for individuals or our world as a whole. Many difficult changes are ahead, but on the other side of these shifts, there are some pretty amazing and inspiring possibilities before us. It’s all unprecedented, and I prefer to concentrate on the positive rather than the negative. I hope you’ll join me…
